"We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Danielle!  Danielle has been instrumental in our daughter's development as a singer and performer and her progress to perform on Broadway.  She is so very talented herself and dedicated to her craft, that she is a perfect role model. But she is also able to bond and inspire and command respect as a teacher.   Danielle is a gem and we hope she will never stop giving lessons!"

"Danielle is a dynamic voice teacher who encourages her students to be their personal best.   Danielle provides a strong foundation for singers through her teaching of proper breathing, sight singing and performance technique.  Whether singing for fun or preparing for professional auditions, Danielle's students benefit from her experience and professionalism.  Danielle is always upbeat, positive and encouraging.  Her passion for music is contagious and her love of teaching shines through at each lesson.  I have referred many friends over the years and none have been disappointed."

"My daughter has been taking voice lessons with Danielle for many years and has loved every moment.  In addition to being a wonderful person, Danielle is an excellent teacher. She is incredibly knowledgeable, kind and patient. Her enthusiasm for music is cntagious.  My daughter has learned so much and has become a very confident singer.  I would recommend her to any serious student."

"Danielle is a very dedicated vocal and dance teacher, I saw my daughter grow into a very confident singer while studying with Danielle for over 5 years.  My daughter is in a boarding school now and is part of the chorus and has been invited to participate in the Octet singing group as well.. Thank you Danielle!!!"

“Our two children’s' success with auditions improved dramatically once we discovered Danielle!  Not only is Danielle extremely capable, but she is also an extremely kind and energetic woman who connects very easily with kids of all personalities.”

”Danielle is a wonderful person and "coach" who has helped my daughter ... in so many ways.  I say "coach" because she has not only given her the best vocal instruction but has also helped with her staging, lines, dance for auditions, and so much more.  Danielle pays attention to all aspects of what [my child’s] needs are.  I would strongly recommend Danielle to anyone looking not only for a voice coach but for someone to guide you through this business.”

Students’ responses to Danielle’s Voice Lessons:

“… great voice teacher and able to teach and encourage[s] [her] students to go above and beyond their own expectations.  It was a pleasure to work [her].”

“Danielle is very talented and skilled with singing, and helps students grow vocally. "

“Danielle was not only my voice coach. Having worked with her consistently from a very young age, she has helped me grow as not just a singer/actor, but also as a person. She is kind hearted and cares about her students. Through our work together, I found my passion for musical theater, an irreplaceable, priceless gift.”

What does the "Plus" in Voice Lessons...Plus entail?

Danielle's students receive much more than just a voice lesson.
1.) They learn relaxation and breathing techniques that will help them outside of her studio. She says: "Breathing diaphragmatically not only helps with getting more oxygen in your body, which of course, helps with so many things, but it also helps relieve stress and helps rid the body of toxins that otherwise might stay in your lungs. It also acts as a relxation tool to calm nerves before an audition."

2.) Performance Technique: Lessons are not about standing in one place, moving your mouth and producing words and notes with your voice. Once a song is committed to memory, students are given "blocking", or stage direction, so they learn how to perform the song.

3.) Vocal Technique

4.) Music Theory/Sight singing

5.) Danielle is also Certified by the Aerobics Fitness Association of America in Kickboxing, Aqua Fitness and Aerobics; and is a Licensed Zumba Instructor. Any student who wishes to add Cardio Training so that he/she can sing easily while dancing, may do so!

So, you see... it really isn't just a voice lesson- it can be so much more :)

Amazing true story about an African Tribe and singing.

 from CarlaDoll6's blog:

There is a tribe in Africa where the birth date of a child is counted not from when they were born, nor from when they are conceived but from the day that the child was a thought in its mother’s mind. And when a woman decides that she will have a child, she goes off and sits under a tree, by herself, and she listens until she can hear the song of the child that wants to come. And after she’s heard the song of this child, she comes back to the man who will be the child’s father, and teaches it to him. And then, when they make love to physically conceive the child, some of that time they sing the song of the child, as a way to invite it.And then, when the mother is pregnant, the mother teaches that child’s song to the midwives and the old women of the village, so that when the child is born, the old women and the people around her sing the child’s song to welcome it. And then, as the child grows up, the other villagers are taught the child’s song. If the child falls, or hurts its knee, someone picks it up and sings its song to it. Or perhaps the child does something wonderful, or goes through the rites of puberty, then as a way of honoring this person, the people of the village sing his or her song.

In the African tribe there is one other occasion upon which the villagers sing to the child. If at any time during his or her life, the person commits a crime or aberrant social act, the individual is called to the center of the village and the people in the community form a circle around them. Then they sing their song to them.

The tribe recognizes that the correction for antisocial behavior is not punishment; it is love and the remembrance of identity. When you recognize your own song, you have no desire or need to do anything that would hurt another.  And it goes this way through their life. In marriage, the songs are sung, together. And finally, when this child is lying in bed, ready to die, all the villagers know his or her song, and they sing—for the last time—the song to that person.  You may not have grown up in an African tribe that sings your song to you at crucial life transitions, but life is always reminding you when you are in tune with yourself and when you are not. When you feel good, what you are doing matches your song, and when you feel awful, it doesn’t. In the end, we shall all recognize our song and sing it well. You may feel a little warbly at the moment, but so have all the great singers. Just keep singing and you’ll find your way home.

My Mission

“My mission is to give every singer confidence in his/her voice, whether it be to sing on stage at school, karaoke at a party or professionally on Broadway. Singing is an art form that encompasses all forms of expression. We don't just use our voices to sing. We use our bodies, minds and souls. I teach so that I can give this complete experience to my students and foster a love of singing that will benefit and last a lifetime.” ~Danielle Valdes
